Dr. Guangming Shi was born in Jiangxi, China. He received his B.S. degree in Automatic Control, M.S. degree in Computer Control and Ph.D. degree in Electronics Science and Technology from Xidian University, Xi'an, China, in 1985, 1988, 2002, respectively. From 1994 to 1996, he was a research assistant in the department of Electronic Engineering at the University of Hong Kong. From June to December in 2004, he studied in the Department of Electronic Engineering at UIUC. Since 2003, Dr. Guangming Shi has been a Professor in the School of Electronic Engineering at Xidian University, Xi'an, China. Now, he also serves as the vice dean in charge of teaching work in the school of Electronic Engineering, Xidian University.

Professional Activities:
 Managing director and deputy secretary general of the Institute of Automation in Shannxi;
Director of Experimental Teaching Center of Electric and Electronic Engineering;
Academic leader in the subject of electronic circuit and system;
Research interest focuses on the following areas:
 Intelligent signal and information processing, including:
Compressive sensing theory
Multirate Filter Banks, wavelet theory and its applications
Image compression and coding
Algorithm of optimization
Applications and implementation of Algorithm for Intelligent Signal Processing (DSP& FPGA).
